Fast Stepping
The Fast Stepping parameter is used to momentarily disable the averaging
of the weight when a large change is detected. This will significantly increase the
speed at which the actual weight is displayed. Once motion settles to a fixed
amount, the averaging function is reactivated. Follow the procedure below to
activate or deactivate this function.
1. Press the ‘9’ key followed by the ‘PARM’ key. The alphanumeric
LCD will display ‘FAST STEPPING’ with its currently selected state
(ON or OFF).
2. Press the ‘SCALE SELECT’ key to toggle the setting and the ‘ENTER’
key to choose the desired state. The operator is then prompted for the
number of weight graduations that will activate/deactivate this
function. Enter a value between 2 and 1000 then press ‘ENTER’.

Quick Configure
The operator can quickly load configurations from memory which will
automatically set certain parameters to preset values. These include 5 factory-
preset configurations, which cannot be modified, as well as 3 user configurations,
which can be stored in memory by the operator.
Changing configurations will affect how weight is acquired and displayed
by setting parameters to the optimal settings for a given application.
4.7.1 Preset Configurations
The XC880A contains 5 factory-preset configurations, these
include a standard, and metric configurations well suited for most
weighing or counting applications. There are also 3 different presets for
check weighing applications, Standard, Fast and audible check weigher.
4.7.2 User Configurations
The operator can store up to three separate user configurations in
the system FLASH memory for recall at any time. Follow the steps below
to store a user configuration.
1. Set all parameters to the desired settings. (see table below).
2. Press ‘SHIFT’ followed by the ‘2’ key. The XC880A prompts
to ‘STORE CONFIG?’. Press ‘1’.
3. The user is prompted to ‘SELECT A CONFIG’. Press the
‘SCALE SELECT’ key until the desired configuration name is
displayed.(USER CONFIG 1 – USER CONFIG 3).
4. Press ‘ENTER’ to store the new configuration, and return to
previous state.
