Before each use, check the work and
protective clothing to make sure it is in
flawless condition (e.g. by visual inspec‐
tion) to ensure as much protection as
possible. Immediately dispose of altered
or damaged work and protective cloth‐
ing.
Safety information
WARNING
■ This work and protective clothing is
designed for the use described
above. There is no protective effect
against other hazards. This clothing
does not provide protection against
cuts caused by the chainsaw.
■ No protective equipment can provide
complete protection against injuries.
The level of protection depends on
many different factors.
■ Work and protective clothing is not a
substitute for safe working technique.
Incorrect use of a power tool can
result in accidents. It is therefore
essential to observe all local safety
regulations, standards and ordinan‐
ces as well as the safety precautions
and safety instructions given in the
instruction manual of your power tool.
■ If the work and protective clothing is
contaminated with acid, solvents,
fuel, oil, grease, or other combustible
and flammable materials during work,
it may ignite, or the proper function of
the cut protection layer may be
impaired. Avoid contact with hot
objects (e.g. exhaust muffler) and
other heat sources (e.g. open flames,
heaters). Change, wash or discard
work and protective clothing depend‐
ent on the degree of contamination.
■ Pointed and sharp objects may dam‐
age the material. Avoid work and pro‐
tective clothing coming into contact
with pointed and sharp objects (e.g.
saw chains, metal tools, thorns).
■ The cut-resistant layer in the FS trou‐
sers or inserted protectors can pro‐
vide protection only if they have not
been pinched, twisted or modified.
Observe correct working technique
and correct application of additionally
inserted accessories.
■ Work and protective clothing requires
correct care and should be cleaned
regularly. Improper cleaning and care
may reduce the protection effect. The
care and cleaning instructions in this
user manual are mandatory.
■ Work and protective clothing in
accordance with table A.3, the Y
water vapor transmission resistance
of which corresponds to class 1, has
a limited wearing time based on the
following table A.4. Here, U = the
ambient temperature in °C and T =
the wearing time in minutes. Effective
ventilation openings and/or breaks in
work can extend the wearing time.
Choosing the right size
To choose the right size, it must be
ensured that clothing is selected accord‐
ing to the STIHL size tables. The work
and protective clothing must not be too
tight or restrictive of movement when
working;
Size adjustment
When altering work trousers with protec‐
tor pockets, make sure that the pockets
are not sewn shut or altered.
Working Safely with Work and Protec‐
tive Clothing
Only fully fastened-up work and protec‐
tive clothing offers maximum protection.
