If you experience problems with your ceramic cooktop, or if it appears not to
be operating correctly, check the information below for solutions to common
problems. If none of the solutions offered help you solve your problem, please
contact our after sales support centre for advice; contact details are printed
at the bottom of the page.

Problem
Possible cause and solution
There is some
smoke when the
cooktop is in use.
A little smoke and odour is normal when you first
use the cooktop. It is no cause for concern and
should disappear completely with repeated use.
Make sure to clean the cooktop after every use to
prevent food residues burning onto the cooktop.
Is the entire cooktop
surface heated
during cooking?
No, only the cooking zones are heated. The
remaining area remains relatively cool.
What does the
“H” mean that
sometimes lights up
next to the cooking
zone buttons?
The cooking zones retain some heat after they are
switched off. The “H” next to a cooking zone button
is a residual heat indicator, which shows that the
relevant cooking zone is still hot. Do not touch any
cooking zones that still have an “H” displayed.
Knowing which cooking zone is still warm should
also help you save energy for keeping food warm.
Do I need special
pots and pans for
use on the cooktop?
No. You can use various types of cookware, just
make sure the bases of your pots and pans are in
good condition. See opposite for more details.
The cooktop does
not work.
Make sure that you have followed the correct
steps: long-press the On/Off button to switch on
the cooktop, then select the cooking zone within
10 seconds of switching on.
Check whether your home circuit breaker has
flipped or the fuse blown and flip or replace as
necessary.
