Configuring the Hard Drive with RAID
If you have changed one of the appliance’s hard drives, you can use the
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) tool to configure the new
hard drive.

To configure the hard drive with RAID
1.
Connect the serial cable supplied with the appliance to the serial
port on the appliance and to a computer.
2.
On the computer, open a terminal with settings 9600bps, 8
databits, 1 stopbit, no parity.
3.
Power on the appliance.
4.
Log in as the user
root
with the password you have set for the
appliance.
5.

Optional
) If you want to check the hard disk status, type
sg-raid -status
on the engine command line.
6.
Configure the hard disk using one of the following commands and
options on the engine command line:

To add a new empty hard disk to a RAID array, type
sg-raid -add
•
If you want to add a hard disk that already contains data and you
want to overwrite the disk, type
sg-raid -add -force
•
If you want to add a hard disk that is already partitioned, type
sg-raid -re-add
This command prompts for the disk and partition for each
degraded array. Use the additional
-force
option, if you want to
check all the arrays.
7.
The disk mirroring starts.
•
For a disk over 200 GB, the mirroring usually takes about 3
hours.
