SYSTEM AND AVIONICS MAINTENANCE
The attached table is a reference guide for the development of a maintenance schedule for all
systems and avionics installed on the aircraft.-
The terms used in the table will have the following meaning:
OPERATIONAL TEST
: quantitative check to make sure that a system, a system function or
equipment is working as expected.- It is mainly used to search failures or malfunctions.- No
equipments nor instruments other than the ones supplied with the aircraft are needed for this kind
of check.-
FUNCTIONAL TEST
: quantitative check to make sure that a system, a system function or
equipment is working within the limits and the tolerances as defined in the applicable test
specifications.- This kind of check normally requires functional testing equipments (usually test
benches) and the recording of the taken measurements.-
BENCH TEST
: this test points out the operational mode of check rather than its content.- It is
used for the quantitative check (functional check) of the operation parameters of the instruments
taken off the aircraft.
The laboratory instruments, the builder’s procedures and data or approved international standards
shall be applied for the bench test of the aircraft on trial.
