In all cases, the transmission of the nominal torque to the connecting components must be checked mathemati-
cally by the operator. It must correspond to the latest technical specifications and be of the sufficient dimen-
sions.
Standard permissible voltages in mechanical engineering must be considered for the dimensioning.
2.3.3
Application limits
The application limits are defined in the technical specifications, see section 4.
2.3.4
Use in potentially explosive atmospheres
There is a fire or explosion risk when operating the clutch in potentially explosive atmospheres. The clutch must
not be used in potentially explosive areas.
Please contact Stromag Customer Care if you have any questions concerning the application limits.
2.4
Non-intended use
Any use other than the intended use of the clutch may lead to dangerous situations.
• Only use the clutch for its intended use in accordance with the details in this documentation, especially in
observing the application limits given in the technical specifications.
• Reconstruction, retrofitting or modification of the construction or individual equipment parts, with the aim of
changing the application range or the usability of the clutch, should be avoided.
• Use of the clutch, although the torque to be transmitted exceeds the nominal torque. This can pass unno-
ticed and as such lead to a thermal overstressing of the discs.
• Use of the clutch at speeds beyond those permitted. This can lead to increased brush and slip ring wear.
• Use of the clutch, although the connection voltage for the coil lies outside of the nominal voltage tolerance
according to DIN IEC 60038. If it falls below this then engagement of the clutch and the torque transmission
may be compromised, if it exceeds this, the coil can be thermally overloaded.
• Use of the clutch outside of the permitted temperature range. This can lead to thermal overloading and dam-
age to the coil.
Claims for any damage that results from non-intended use are exempted. The operator bears sole responsibility
for damage caused by non-intended use.
2.5
Standards applied
Details of other national standards are referenced within the documentation. This applies especially to the as-
sembly. DIN standards can be purchased from DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. (the German Institute
for Standardization),

Please contact Stromag’s Customer Care for any questions concerning the contents and application.
2.6
Possible residual risks
Residual risks are particular dangers that cannot be eliminated when using the clutch, despite its safety-orienta-
ted construction.
Residual risks are not obviously recognisable and could be the source of a possible injury or health risk.
Special reference is made to possible residual risks in the following.
