Mounting the
outer body
1. Align the grooves of the outer discs (7) to each oth-
er.
2. Guide the outer body (1) with the outer body fingers
into the grooves of the outer discs (7).
3. Fix the outer body (1), see the mounting instructions
of the machine manufacturer.
NOTE
Observe mounting dimension, see sec-
tion 4.3.

Electrical connection
The clutch runs exclusively on direct current.
The coil (3) is designed for the stated voltage and 100% relative duty cycle, see section 4.4. The permanent
permissible voltage fluctuation must comply with the specifications in DIN IEC 60038, see section 2.5.
To avoid any switching delay, switching in direct current is preferable.
Particularly short turn-on times can be achieved through quick switching. Quick switching devices can be sup-
plied upon request.
To protect against impermissible break over voltages, the user needs to use voltage limiters as per DIN 43235
(see section 2.5), e.g. Stromag over-voltage protection device type VAR.
NOTE
Temporary over-voltages are permitted for short turn-on times.
The time period and height of these over-voltages depends on many conditions, so no precise specifi-
cations can be made without this information being available. Please contact Stromag's Customer
Care for specific questions, see section 11.2.
6.5.1
Earth conductor
Should clutches with 2 slip rings (type series EDE/EDB) be installed in one housing, the housing must be con-
nected via an earth conductor for operating voltages over 60 V. Observe the requirements for earth conductor
connections as per DIN VDE 0580, see section 2.5. Continuous electrical connection must be secured between
the housing and the clutch, by using adequate connecting elements.
