Using equipment safely
Your decoder has been manufactured to meet European safety standards, but care must be taken to
ensure proper performance.
It is important that you read this booklet completely, especially the safety instructions below. If you
have any doubts about the installation, operation or safety of decoder, please contact your Customer
Service.
Avoiding the risk of electric shock
• Disconnectthedecoderfromthemainssupplybeforeyouconnectthedecoderto(ordisconnect
it from) any other equipment. Avoid any contact with 230 Volt AC mains, which can be lethal or
cause severe electric shock.
• Donotremovethecoverofthedecoder.Shouldthedecoderfail,contacttheCustomerService
for repair or service.
• Donotinsertanythingintoanyopeningofthecase(excepttheSmartcard)
• Donotblockthedecoder’sventilationslots;donotplaceitonunstablesurfaceslikecarpets.
• Donotputanythingonthedecoderwhichmightspillordripintoit(eg.Lightedcandlesorliquids
containers). Do not splash it with a liquid. If an object or liquid enters inside the decoder, unplug
it immediately and contact the Customer Service.
• Donotstorethedecoderinexcessivelyhot,coldordampconditions.Thedecoderisintended
tooperateatanambienttemperatureoflessthan45degreesCelsiusandamaximumhumidity
level of 75%.
• Incaseofathunderstorm,itisrecommendedthatyouunplugthedecoderfromthemainsand
the antenna from the TV set.
• Leavethemainssocketaccessiblesothatyoucanunplugthesetquickly
Connecting to the mains supply
• Thisdecoderisdesignedtooperateat230VAC,50Hz.
• Ifyouareinanydoubtaboutthemainslead,theplugorconnection,pleaseconsulttheCustomer
Service.
Ensuring optimum performance
• Leave7cmto10cmaroundthedecodertoensureproperventilationtothedecoder.
• Alwaysplaceyourdecoderhorizontally.
• Tocleanthedecoder,useadry,cleansoftclothwithnocleaningsolventorabrasiveproducts.
Clean the ventilation openings regularly.
