7.3.3 Initial Settings
To avoid inconsistencies during A/B Desk Mode configuration, it is strongly
recommended to perform the following preparations in advance.
User GUI:
Channel FDR/bus page, input routing page, output routing page
• Make sure that all bus assignments are OFF (PGM A, PGM B, REC, AUX,
N–X) and the contribution levels are set to “Mute”
• Clear the whole input routing (strip assignment)
• Clear the whole output routing
After having configured the desk resource definition, it will be impossible to
modify certain strip assignments, output routings and bus assignments.
7.4 Configuration
The following chapter is a check list guiding the system administrator through
all the configuration settings required for a proper A/B Desk Mode configura-
tion.
7.4.1 Desk
Desk_ModuleTable.xml
For each of the two desks, the
Desk_ModuleTable.xml
must be con-
figured in such a way that:
• the StripChannels (FirstStripNo) are assigned to the modules as defined
in the
AB DESK Mode Desk Resources.xls
form.
• the module locations (Location) are as defined in the
AB DESK Mode
Desk Resources.xls
form
• the primary desk is located in DeskGroup 1, and the secondary desk is
located in DeskGroup 2
• the key mapping (MappingPattern) corresponds to the location
Normally, CR (control room) monitoring is used for the Primary Desk, and
ST1 (Studio 1) monitoring is used for the Secondary Desk. Studios 2 and 3
can be assigned to any of the desks.
Primary and secondary desks usually have their own desk group, defining
which input groups (MIC, LINE, …) are selectable with the input selector
rotary encoder on the fader module.
Desk_KeyMapping.xml
Some key mapping patterns have to be adapted for certain functions:
Next function buttons: There exists a set of two desk functions, one for
the primary desk (NextA, StartNextA) and one for secondary desk (NextB,
StartNextB)
OnAir: Instead of using the OnAir desk key function, the primary desk
usually needs OnAirPGMA, the secondary desk OnAirPGMB
