„Verbreitung von Legionella pneumophila in Ultraschallbefeuchtern“ 

 

Einleitung 

 

Seit längerer Zeit wird die Infektionsgefahr durch das Bakterium 

Legionella pneumophila

, welches die Legionärs-

krankheit  verursacht,  in  Befeuchtungssystemen  als  Hygieneproblem  angesehen.  Aus  diesem  Grund  muss  darauf 
geachtet werden, dass derartige Systeme so sicher wie möglich konstruiert und betrieben werden. 
 

Stellungnahme 

 

Bei den Ultrasonic-Befeuchtern der Firma Stulz kann das hygienische Risiko als niedrig angesehen werden. Es ist 
davon auszugehen, dass die hochfrequenten Schwingungen im Ultraschall-Befeuchter Bakterien in ihrer Lebend-
keimzahl reduzieren. Eine Vermehrung von Legionellen im Wasserreservoir der Befeuchter ist daher unwahrschein-
lich.  
 
Trotzdem sind die folgenden Hinweise für den Betrieb der Anlage zu beachten:

Die einwandfreie mikrobiologische Qualität des entmineralisierten Wassers, welches im Umkehrosmose-
verfahren  erzeugt  wird,  ist  durch  geeignete  Maßnahmen  sicherzustellen.  Das  entmineralisierte  Wasser 
sollte zur Keimreduktion durch eine geeignete UV-Desinfektionsstrecke fließen, bevor es in den Befeuchter 
gelangt.  Aus  praktischen  Gründen (Wartungsaufwand,  Energieverbrauch)  sind  endständige  Wasserfilter 
zu bevorzugen. Geeignete Materialien für das Leitungssystem sind Edelstahl und spezielle Kunststoffe wie 
PE (Polyethylen) oder ABS (Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol-Copolymerisat). Bevorzugt sollte Edelstahl zum Ein-
satz kommen.

Lange Standzeiten des Wassers in den Leitungen und dem Befeuchter müssen vermieden werden. Über 
ein Magnetventil wird das Wasserreservoir im Ultraschall-Befeuchter in regelmäßigen Abständen und bei 
längerem Stillstand automatisch entleert. Erst wenn eine erneute Befeuchtung notwendig ist, wird wieder 
befüllt. Der Ultrasonic-Befeuchter-Regler (USM) von Stulz steuert hierfür ein Ablassmagnetventil und ent-
leert bevor der Befeuchter gestartet wird in den Leitungen verbliebenes Wasser.

In festzulegenden Abständen sind Wartungs- und Instandhaltungsarbeiten durchzuführen. Hierzu gehö-
ren die sachgerechte Aufbereitung des Befeuchters mit einem geeigneten Desinfektionsmittel und der 
Austausch der UV-Lampen oder des endständigen Sterilfilters. 

 
Schlussfolgernd kann festgestellt werden, dass das hygienische Risiko einer Verbreitung von Legionellen durch die 
Beachtung der oben beschriebenen Sicherheitsmaßnahmen sehr gering ist. Die Möglichkeit durch das Einatmen 
der befeuchteten Luft eine Legionellose zu erwerben, ist praktisch auszuschließen.
