Operating principle of an ultrasonic nebulizing
humidifier
How does an ultrasonic nebulizing humidifier work? An ultra-
sonic membrane inside the humidifier agitates the water so
that microscopic droplets are «catapulted» from the surface.
They are mixed with air in the nebulizing chamber and blown into
the room as a visually discernable mist. This mist disperses
throughout the warmer room air to moisten it.
What you should know about «white dust»
– This type of humidifier nebulizes everything contained in the
water, including lime and minerals. To minimize this as far as
possible, the water first passes through the filter which, un-
less worn out, holds back most of the suspended materials
– The lime and mineral content of tapwater varies widely ac-
cording to region. Some minerals are not filtered out enough
by the antiliming agent. As a result, a white dust is deposited
in the room, primarily on electrostatically charged surfaces
(e.g. the TV screen)
– This also happens when the filter cartridge (optional) is worn
out (see «Tip» on page 57)
What you should know about water
– Never use water that has been softened using salt. Other-
wise white salt dust will be deposited in the room instead of
lime dust
– To keep the room air hygienic, always use clean water. And
keep your humidifier scrupulously clean, above all the water
tank
