3.2 Starting the dryer
a) The dryer is started using the main switch.
b) Always start up the dryer before activating the air compressor.
c) First of all, close any switches upstream from the dryer. Only after this start the
dryer turning their yellow---red handle ”main switch” to I.
To turn the dryer off completely, turn the main isolator switch ”main switch” to
0, then open any switches upstream from the dryer.
d) If the Dryer is under power (white LED near the button ”standby” lit up) the
Dryer can be started using ”on” button. When operating the green LED near
”on” button is lit up.
e)
Wait about 5 minutes until the dryer is running at the correct operating tempera-
tures and pressures.
f)
Slowly open the air inlet valve to pressurise the dryer.
g)
Slowly open the air outlet valve. The dryer is now operating (drying).
h) Always leave the dryer running while the air compressor is operating.
Air--cooled versions:
it is very important to check the rotational direction of the
fans. If supplied with the wrong phase frequency, they will turn in the opposite direc-
tion. In this case they risk being damaged. SWAP OVER THE PHASES IMMEDI-
ATELY. Check that the air flow is outgoing from the grille of the fan.
Water--cooled versions:
it is recommended to open the cooling water circuit just
a few minutes before starting the dryer; it is moreover recommended to close the
water circuit when the dryer is stopped.
3.3 Stopping the dryer
a) To stop the Dryer, press the “standby” (see
Safety Warnings
).
b) Stop the dryer 2 minutes after shutting down the air compressor or interrupting
the air flow to the dryer.
Avoid allowing compressed air to enter the dryer when the dryer is switched
off or when it is in an alarm situation which stops the refrigeration compressor.
3.4 Remote on---off
Remote on---off is enabled or disabled by the parameter B06, and can be performed
either using a remote on---off switch (connected to terminals 51 --- 63 of Dryer’s ter-
minals board) or a supervisor system.
There are 3 settings for parameter B06:
S
No: The remote on---off contact is ignored and the Dryer must be started/
stopped on the front panel.
S
Yes: The Dryer can be started/stopped both remotely and using the front panel.
When stopped remotely “r.OFF” is shown on the display.
S
LOC: (i.e. “Lock”): the Dryer can only be started/stopped remotely; the front
panel’s on/off function is ignored.
NB1:
This must be programmed when the Dryer is not in stand---by, other-
wise the system blocks.
NB2:
This setting must be accompanied, for safety reasons, by an emergency
stop on the Dryer.
3.5 Operation
S
Once started, the Dryer has been pre---programmed to operate autonomously,
without the need for any further programming.
S
Do not exceed the machine’s design limits, bypass excess air flow and check the
unit model and/or installation.
S
For maximum performance from your dryer, follow the maintenance schedule de-
scribed in Chapter 7.
S
The sound pressure level recorded for these dryers at 40 inch (1 meter) from the
machine in free field conditions) is less then 70 dB (A).
S
Fig. 6 shows the Dryer’s refrigeration and air circuits.
S
The Dyers adjusts the speed of the variable speed compressor measuring the
refrigerant suction pressure and the evaporation temperature; In conditions of
very low (or null) load, compressor can be stopped, and the Dryer enters in cycling
operation. In this way the Dryer obtains an accurate Dew Point control together
with maximum energy savings.
