distributed management cards; therefore, the rear transition card for the
distributed management card is not a hot-swappable component. You must fully
power-off the system before removing the rear transition card for the distributed
management card. Refer to
for those instructions.
5.1.2
Removing a Distributed Management Card
The Netra CT 820 server is available only as a rear-access server, so two distributed
management cards are installed in slots 1A and 1B in the front of the server and a
single rear transition card is installed in slot 1 at the rear of the server.
Because the distributed management cards control the power to every slot in the
system (through BD_SEL#), if both of the system’s DMCs are removed
simultaneously, all the boards in the system lose power. When removing a DMC
from a powered system, the card performs a controlled shutdown of itself but not
the other boards in the system. Therefore, you should ensure that a second DMC is
present and synchronized before removing a DMC. If a second card is not available,
you should power down the server before removing a distributed management card.
Following are the instructions for removing the distributed management card.

During a hot-swap of an
active
distributed management card, the active card
will fail over to the standby card. For more information about the distributed
