7. Set your modem auto-answer switch to one of the following:

Changing the Serial Port Speed
To change the speed of a serial port, edit the
/etc/remote
file as follows:
1. Become superuser, and type
cd /etc
.
2. Type
vi remote
to open the
remote
file in a
vi
text editor.
3. Type
tip
speed device-name.
Typical speeds are 9600, 19200 to 38400 bps.
The device name is the serial port name—for example,
/dev/tty[a,b]
or
/dev/term/[a,b]
.
4. Press Esc and Shift-colon, then type
wq
to save your file change(s) and to exit from
the
vi
text editor.
