Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the SUNCOAST CUSTOM 18P guitar

amplifier.  It is our commitment to providing our customers with the highest
quality, handcrafted musical instrument amplifiers, built in the USA.
Utilizing our knowledge of classic designs from the past 50 years, we set out
to recreate that unique sound of some of our personal favorite artists. The
Custom 18P is a low wattage amp whose design is based on the mid 70’s
HIWATT custom amplifiers.  These amps were hand made for people like
David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, and Pete Townsend and were the secret
weapon for their distinctive tone.  We first created a custom 20W, wide-
bandwidth output transformer to emulate the response of the original
Partridge transformer.  Next, we re-designed the phase inverter circuit to
drive the EL84 output stage for a bold, bright and aggressive tone of it’s big
brother.  The footswitch now engages a treble boost in the last preamp stage
for more Lead gain.  Finally, we added a new balance control circuit to
blend between the Normal and Brilliant input preamps. This new feature
replaces having to jumper the two inputs together and adjust the levels
separately.  The ultimate British Tone amp at an 18W, club volume level.
