IX. DEALER SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENT

M. BACKREST

1.  Angle-adjustable back

Remove allen screws (A) on both backrest tubes. Adjust angle within the hole-pattern 

(3° increment per hole), insert allen screws (A) on both sides and tighten to 5 Nm (Fig. 58).

2.  Folding backrest

The backrest is foldable, two versions of the release mechanism are available.
a. 

Pushbar - release: push the release bar upwards, hold the position and fold the backrest 

 

forward.

b.   Twist-lock release: rotate the handle on the crossbar forward, hold the position and fold 
 

backrest forward. The handle can only be rotated in the forward direction.

3.  Double-locking option

This option is available on the backrest- if the wheelchair is equipped with double-locking option, the 
backrest will lock in the fl at-folded position.
a.    To unfold the backrest, either push the pushbar upwards or rotate the twist-lock handle 
 

forward.

b.  The locking position (angle) of the folded backrest can be adjusted: remove allen-screw (B) on
 

both sides (Fig. 59), set the desired locking angle by chosing the corresponding hole within 

 

the hole-pattern (C) (Fig. 60) and tighten again allen screws (B) on both sides to 5 Nm.

N. FREESTYLE BACK MAINTENANCE AND 
     ADJUSTMENT

1.  When performing regular maintenance, check the torque on the Freestyle 

back.

a.   Using a torque wrench check and tighten if needed the hardware (E) (F) to 200 in-lbs to make
 

sure the back shell is locked into position.

2.  Height adjustment

a.   Remove the cover and Back pad to gain access to the adjustment hardware.
b.   Using a 4mm hex key, loosen the 4 screws (G) and move the back shell up or down to desired 
 

height. (Fig. 62) Tighten the screws to lock in the adjustment.

c.   Attach again the back pad and cover.

3.  Fine depth and height adjustment

The Freestyle back adjustment system provides a maximum of 1 inch of fi ne depth adjustment 
combined with a maximum of 1 inch of fi ne height adjustment.
a.   Using an 8mm hex key, loosen the two screws (F) and rotate the backshell to the desired 
 

position.

b.   Tighten the screws (F) to 200 in-lbs to lock in the adjustment.

4.  Angle adjustment

The Freestyle back adjustment system allows the ability to adjust the backrest angle to achieve user’s 
comfort and position.
a.   Using an 8mm hex key, loosen the screw (E) and rotate the backrest to the desired position.
b.   Tighten the screw (E) to 200 in-lbs to lock in the adjustment.
