NOTICE

WINTERIZATION / AIR PURGE SYSTEM

Follow these steps to purge water from the water system and winterize water pump.

Perform with engine running. If desired, increase engine rpm to replenish air tanks faster.

Drain the water tanks by removing the Y-strainer cap then open the water supply line
valve. Open the rear crossover pipe drain located at the rear of the truck underneath the
optional splash shield.
Raise body and secure body safety prop to help ensure all water drains. After all water
has drained from the water tanks, lower body, install the Y-strainer cap and close the
water supply live valve.
Open the sewer hose valve located on the front reel and open the air purge valve
allowing air to push water out of the sewer hose. Spin the front hose reel to assist the
water removal process. Close the sewer hose valve when all water is expelled.
Open the 3-way body flush valve at the debris body and water pump close when air is
heard entering the body.
DUMPS ONLY: Open the two drain valves located between the frame rails at the back of
the truck. These are the body flush line and the winter recirculation line drains.
OPTION: If your truck is equipped with the WINTER RECIRCULATION, connect the
sewer hose to the recirculation line located on the front bumper. Open the sewer hose
valve and the valve behind the front bumper. Once air enters the water tanks the lines
are purged. Close the sewer hose valve.
Open the small drain under the front bumper and close when all water is expelled.
Install a spray handgun to the front bumper squeeze the trigger until all water is
expelled.
OPTION: If your truck is equipped with a RETRACTABLE HOSE REEL, install a spray
handgun and open the 3-way valve at the water pump. Squeeze the trigger until all water
is expelled. Remove the spray handgun and close the retractable hose reel 3-way valve.
Open the heat exchanger drain and close when all water is expelled.
Open the 3-way valve at the bottom of the water pump and stroke the pump in the
“prime / purge” mode. Perform this until no water is coming from the pump drain and
close valve when all water is expelled.
Close the air purge valve.
Open the glycol tank feed valve until the pump ingests about one gallon of glycol. Turn
off the pump and close the glycol tank valve. Open the 3-way valve at the water pump to
verify glycol is in water pump and close valve.
Raise the debris body, open the tailgate, and debris body drains to remove any water
that was air purged into the debris tank. Lower the body and close the tailgate.
