CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION

Cab Control Panel Functions
Figure 3-8
MODE Rocker Switch
• Switches the truck between road and work modes.
• When the cab control panel rocker switch (1) ROAD
mode is enabled, the rear axle will engage and the
truck will be able to be driven.
• When the cab control panel rocker switch (1) WORK
mode is enabled, the rear axle is automatically
disabled and allows remote control of the engine
speed (RPM). It will also disable the speedometer so
it will not accumulate odometer mileage while in work
mode.
NOTE
The cab MODE rocker switch WORK light will not
illuminate until the rear axle disengage confirm
switch is activated and the engine speed is 25 RPM
above engine idle speed.
• Once the cab control panel is in work mode, both
front panel MODE switch lights will be red until either
VAC or DUMP mode on the front control panel or
curbside control panel are selected and a green light
is illuminated showing the selected mode.
VAC PUMP Rocker Switch
• Engages or disengages the vacuum pump.
• Trucks equipped with automatic transmissions must
be in neutral (NN) before activating the VAC PUMP
ON/OFF rocker switch.
• When the VAC PUMP rocker switch (2) is pushed to
the on position, the ON light will blink until the VAC
PUMP enable is confirmed. The ON light will stop
blinking and stay illuminated.
• Occasionally the transfer case gears may not align
correctly, the transfer case will not shift, and the VAC
PUMP rocker switch ON light will continue to blink. If
this occurs, proceed with the following steps:
1.
Push the VAC PUMP rocker switch to the OFF
position.
2.
Place the transmission into drive (D), then back into
neutral (NN).
3.
Push the VAC PUMP rocker switch to the ON
position.
WORK LIGHT Rocker Switch (Option)
• The WORK LIGHT rocker switch (3) controls the two
rear and two mid-ship work lights.
• The work lights can be controlled by either the cab
control panel switch or curbside control panel switch.
• The switch that was last activated keeps control until
a different switch is pressed.
• The work lights will turn off automatically when the
transfer case is shifted into drive mode.
• The work lights can be turned back on while in drive
mode by either switch.
• The work lights can be turned on when the truck is
driven less than 18 miles per hour. The work lights
will automatically turn off when the truck is driven at a
speed of more than 20 miles per hour.
