Complete finished interior wall. Maintain a minimum 1” (26 mm) clearance from the door frame outer edge to
any finish material.
NOTE:
NEVER install combustible material (wall finish, surround, trim, etc.) on, in front of, or overlapping any
part of the fireplace front face.

Finishing without optional Surround—Cleanface Finish

Secure nailing flanges to wall framing.
NOTE:
The fireplace ships from factory with the flanges positioned for a cleanface installation.

Install non-combustible board at top of fireplace as follows

Remove the three (3) screws holding top of the clean face trim. Install the first top non-combustible board (with
the 3 middle holes at the bottom and conter sink holes facing out) and reinstall the three (3) screws using the
countersink holes in the board. Fasten the board to the side jack studs with one (1) screw on each side using
the center holes in the board. Using 100% silicone applying the silicone with small “Hershey kisses” spaced out
evenly on the first non-combustible board. Attach the second non-combustible board (with the 3 middle holes at
the bottom and countersink holes facing out) to the first. Using the countersink holes in the board in the top left
and right corners, shoot screws into the top jack stud header to hold the board in place. Install one (1) screw in
the middle countersink hole into the top jack header.
Remove the three (3) screws holding the sides of the clean face trim. Install both side pieces of non-combustible
board. Using the countersink holes in the non-combustible board, reinstall the three (3) screws.
NOTE:
If skimming the non-combustible board to match drywall, use Sheetrock
®
brand Durabond
®
90 setting
type joint compound to fill all joints. These trademarks are owned by United States Gypsum Company or a
related company. A total of 1” non-combustible material is required.
