5-6 Removing and Reinstalling the Backplane
The backplane is located on the rear of the hard drive tray. To remove and reinstall

Removing the Backplane
1. Power down the system and remove the power cords from the rear of the
power supplies as described in Section 5-2. Remove the chassis cover as
described in Section 5-3.
2. Remove the hard drives and drive tray as described in Section 5-5.
3. Remove the two screws securing the backplane to the rear of the hard drive
tray and set them aside for later use.
4. Lift the two latches securing the backplane.
5. Pull the top of the backplane away from the hard drive tray at a slight angle,
then lift the backplane up and off the hard drive tray.
Reinstalling the Backplane
1. Place the bottom edge of the backplane against the rear of the hard drive
tray, then push it flush against the hard drive tray, aligning the mounting holes
in the backplane with those in the hard drive tray.
2. Close the two latches over the top of the backplane.
3. Secure the backplane with the two screws previously set aside.
4. Return the hard drive tray to the chassis, replace the chassis cover, plug the
power cords into the rear of the power supply and power up the system.
