Chassis Setup and Maintenance
5-1 Overview
This chapter covers the steps required to install components and perform mainte-
nance on the chassis. The only tool you will need to install components and perform
maintenance is a Phillips screwdriver. Print this chapter to use as a reference while
setting up your chassis.
Review the warnings and precautions listed in the manual before setting up or
servicing this chassis. These include information in Chapter 2: System Safety and
the warnings/precautions listed in the setup instructions.
Safety Warning:
Before performing any chassis setup or maintenance, it is recom-
mended that the chassis be removed from the rack and placed on a stable bench
or table. For instructions on how to uninstall the chassis from the rack, refer to
Chapter 5 Rack Installation in this manual.
5-2 Removing Power from the System
Before performing some setup or maintenance tasks, use the following procedure
to ensure that power has been removed from the system.
1. Use the operating system to power down the node, following the on-screen
prompts.
2. After the system has completely shut-down, carefully grasp the head of the
power cord and gently pull it out of the back of the power supply. If your sys-
tem has dual power supplies, remove the cords from both power supplies.
3. Disconnect the cord from the power strip or wall outlet.
