Power Supply
The SuperServer 6123L-8R/6123L-iR has a redundant 500 watt power supply
consisting of two power modules. Each power supply module is auto-switching
capable, which enables it to automatically sense and operate at a 100V or 240V
input voltage.
Power Supply Failure
If either of the two power supply modules fail, the other module will take the full
load and allow the system to continue operation without interruption. The PWR
Fail LED will illuminate and remain on until the failed unit has been replaced.
Replacement units can be ordered directly from Supermicro (see contact infor-
mation in the Preface). The power supply units are hot-swappable, meaning you
can replace the failed unit without powering down the system.
Removing/Replacing the Power Supply
You do not need to shut down the system to replace a power supply unit.
The redundant feature will keep the system up and running while you replace
the failed hot-swap unit. Replace with the same model - SP502-2S
(Supermicro part number: PWS-0049), which can be ordered directly from
Supermicro (see Contact Information in the Preface).
1.
Removing the power supply:
First unplug the power cord from the failed power supply unit. Then depress
the locking tab on the power supply unit and pull the unit straight out with
the rounded handle.
2.
Installing a new power supply:
Replace the failed hot-swap unit with another SP502-2S power supply unit .
Simply push the new power supply unit into the power bay until you hear a
*click*. Secure the locking tab on the unit and finish by plugging the AC
power cord back into the unit.
