APPENDIX A- BLUESKY SATELLITE TRACKING
Control Head
The control head is the primary interface with the modem unit installed in theaircraft. By looking
at the LED indicators on this unit the pilots can instantly seethe status of the entire system.
Following are detailed descriptions of eachinterface / indicator:
Power On/Off Switch
To turn the unit On/Off, pull the power
switch out and move into the On/Offposition.
LED Indicators
The front panel contains the following three software-controlled LEDs: MessageLED, Iridium LED
and GPS LED. Additionally, a Power LED (PWR/Battery) isdisplayed for power information.
• Message – Blue LED:
Steady – The Message LED Indicator will be a steady blue when there is amessage in the unit’s
Inbox. The indicator goes off when ANYmessage in the Inbox is read. See in chapter 1.19.2 for
messagereading instructions.
Blinking – ERROR. The D1000 unit is not able to connect to the Iridiummodem (L-Band
Transceiver). Please contact Blue Sky Networkdirectly if this condition occurs.
NOTE: Messages on the unit are not stored after power off.
• Iridium – Tri-Color LED that indicates the Iridium satellite signal level. Signallevels are indicated
from 0-5 bars similar to that of most mobile phones:
Off – The Iridium LED Indicator will be off (not lit) when there are less than 3bar signal strength
from the Iridium network.
Yellow – The Iridium LED Indicator will be yellow when there are between3-4 bar signal strength
available from the Iridium network.
Green – The Iridium LED Indicator will be green when there are 5 bar signalstrength available
from the Iridium network.
