Blinking: The unit is attempting to transmit or receive via the Iridium satellitenetwork. The following
routine transmit intervals are set in the aircraftand should be observable by the crew:
1.
Papua Operations: ......
Aircraft below 10.000 feet ............ 60 seconds
Aircraft above 10.000 feet .......... 120 seconds
2.
All other Operations: ...
Aircraft below 8.000 feet ............ 120 seconds
Aircraft above 8.000 feet ............ 300 seconds
NOTE
Pilots shall pay particular attention to the behavior of this LED during flight.At rare occurrences,
the system can „hang“ and lose position transmissioncapabilities. In this case the aircraft will
display „inactive“ on the flightfollowing screens and with no further news SAR may be initiated. If
theIridium LED shows OFF and it is confirmed by checking the signal strengthindicator on the
ACH1000, then the crew shall restart the Bluesky system(turn OFF, then ON again). If that does
not correct the problem, contactoperations as soon as possible in another way to give an “ALL
CLEAR“message.
If the unit loses the Iridium signal, the Iridium LED will blink every30 - 60 seconds while trying to
transmit a message, but be OFF inbetween.
• GPS – Tri-Color LED that indicates the GPS signal level:
Off – The GPS LED Indicator will be off (not lit) when there are less than 3GPS Satellites within
range of the aircraft.
Yellow – The GPS LED Indicator will be yellow when there are between 3-4GPS Satellites within
range of the aircraft.
Green – The GPS LED Indicator will be green will there are 5 or more GPSSatellites within range of
the aircraft.
• PWR/Battery – Dual-Color LED that indicates Power source:
Green – The PWR/Battery LED Indicator will be green when the unit isbeing powered by an
outside power source (aircraft bus power).
Yellow – The PWR/Battery LED Indicator will be yellow when the unit isbeing powered by the
Rechargeable Emergency Battery locatedwithin the unit.
NOTE: Due to the installation in the company‘s aircraft, this LED may beOFF at all times. This does
not indicate a fault.
