1. KMC 321 AUTOPILOT MODE CONTROLLER -
This mode controller
consists of nine Flight Director mode select buttons (Push on - Push
off), mode annunciators, the vertical trim control, the yaw damper
engage(disengage button, the autopilot engage) disengage
button and the preflight test button.
2. HEADING (HDG) MODE -
When pushed will select the Heading
mode which commands the airplane to turn to and maintain the
heading selected by the heading bug on the EHSI. The maximum
bank angle is approximately 25°.
Selecting HDG mode will cancel NAV, APR or BC track modes.
3. NAVIGATION (NAV) MODE -
provides intercept, capture and
tracking of VOR or LOC signals. The NAV annunciators located
above this button will annunciate NAV ARM until the automatic
capture sequence is initiated, then NAV will be annunciated. The
sequence of the PFD display annunciator is similar.
4. APPROACH (APR) MODE -
provides intercept, capture and
tracking of VOR or LOC signals plus glideslope coupling in the
case of an ILS. The tracking gain of the APR mode is greater than
the gain in the NAV mode. The APR annunciator located above
this button will annunciate APR ARM until the automatic capture
sequence is initiated, then APR will be annunciated. The
sequence of the PFD display annunciator is similar.
5. BACK COURSE APPROACH (BC) MODE –
shall not be used.
6. YAW DAMPER (YD) -
engages and disengages the yaw
damper independent of the autopilot.
7. AUTOPILOT ENGAGE (AP) -
engages autopilot and yaw
damper if all autopilot internal logic conditions are met. When
pushed again, disengages autopilot but does not disengage the
yaw damper.
