3.1 Method and Use of Checklists
At all times the PM shall read the checklist on request from the PF hence the
prescribed aircraft checklists are to be used at all times. It is, however, not a
DO
list, but a
CHALLENGE RESPONSE
checklist. The applicable crew member must
complete the flow by memory and then use the checklist to verify that all checks
are completed. While the aircraft is static, the FO will read the checklist, and the
Captain must acknowledge the action on the checklist to ensure the item is
actioned correctly.
During taxi operations, the Captain will call for the appropriate checklist, which
will be read bythe FO. The Captain will respond with the required status of items,
which will be checkedand/or performed by the FO, as appropriate. On
completion of a checklist, the FO willverbally confirm that the checks are
complete.E.G.: “
TAXI CHECKLIST COMPLETE”
3.2 Operating the Checklist
At the appropriate time the PF shall call for the checklist by name. The
onlyexception to this is the first flight of the day when the Captain shall be PF
duringthe
“First Flight of the Day”
checks (those checks can only be done from
theCaptain‘s side of the aircraft). Once the first flight of the day checks are
completedthe First Officer may then become the PF again, however during
ground operations all checklist are read by the First-Officer.
3.2.1 Auto-Feather Checks
In the event of any doubt and at least before the first flight of the day the Auto
Feather System have to be checked prior departure. This has to be completed
in the run- up or taxi holding position.
This exercise is a read and do exercise
, i.e.
Captain calls for the Auto feather checklist. The FO reads the check item, and
the Captain does the specific check then.
Refer to Appendix D or AFMSection IV Normal Procedures.
