3.3 Crew Conduct and Sterile Environment
No flight crewmember may engage in any activity which would distract any other
flightcrewmember from the performance of their duties or which could interfere
inany way with the conduct of those duties.
Activities such as eating meals, paperwork and engaging in non-essential
conversations during critical phases of flight are not permitted. Both pilots
shouldmaintain full situational awarenessduring critical phases of operations.
These critical phasesinclude all ground operations,taxi, takeoff, landing, flight
conducted below 5,000 feet AGL and within 1,000 feet prior to assigned or chosen
level/altitude.
Flight crews shall not read publications unrelated to the proper conduct of
theflight.
