1 .
Visually inspect the gear jack before use. When doing so, check for e.g. leaks,
bent components, cracks and fractures. Do not use the gear jack if damaged.
2 .
Move the gear jack into the required position and operate the foot pump to raise
the piston rod to the required height.
3 .
Align the load so that it rests on the centre of the saddle of the gear jack.
4 .
Slowly and carefully turn the hand wheel of the relief valve anticlockwise to retract the
piston rod. Never turn the hand wheel in jerks or open it by more than half a rotation at a
time, as this may cause damage to the gear jack or the load to fall off and injure people.
5 .
When lowering the load, make sure that it does not slide out of place or become stuck
and could drop from a great height.
6 .
Avoid strong impacts, damage to the piston rod and temperatures greater than 80°C.

•
The gear jack must only be maintained by competent personnel.
•
The oil should be changed at least once a year.
•
Only use ISO VG 32 hydraulic oil.
•
Regularly check the oil level. When the piston rod is fully retracted, the oil level
must be just below the venting screw.
•
Keep the piston rod clean. Clean the piston rod without any cleaning or degreasing
agent and only use a lightly oiled cloth.
•
Make sure that the sealing lip of the piston rod is free from dirt.
Otherwise, the piston rod will transport the dirt into the sealing unit during
retraction and damage it irreparably.
