2.1 General
The humidifier should be installed in wet areas with floor
gulley and should preferably be located upstream of the air
cooler, if there is one.
2.1.1 Humidifier selection
The following recommendations apply to the water quality,
type of installation and control equipment in conjunction with
selecting a humidifier (see also Sections 2.2-2.5):
2.1.2 Symbols used and technical correlation
The chart (right) shows the humidification process with
water having the same temperature as the wet-bulb tem-
perature t
v
.
The humidifiers should be connected to a cold water supply.
Any change of enthalpy will then be negigible, even though
the water supplied has a slightly lower temperature than the
wet-bulb air temperature.

Instructions for the BASIC
BCHA Humidifier, Sizes 004–055
1. General
The BCHA is an evaporative humidifier designed for once-
through water or circulated water. The water evaporates
from an unheated contact fill, consisting of an inorganically
impregnated, woven glass fibre of cross-block design.
The contact fill is incombustible and thus is not affected
by high air temperatures or high water temperatures. The
woven glass fibre is also highly water absorbent that allows
complete wetting of the surfaces.
The air flow through the humidifier must be horizontal.
The water distribution system for circulated water consists
of water spray tubes, pump, drain valve, float valve and
internal pipework.
The components of the BCHA are easy to reach for cleaning.
They can easily be withdrawn from the inspection door. The
water tray is made of stainless steel; has its drainage line on
the inspection side. If the drain connection at the side of the
unit is left open, it must be fitted with a type BCXZ-1-71-5
water trap.
WARNING!
Do not open the inspection doors on the pressurized
side downstream of the fan. The door may otherwise
fly open and cause personal injury.
1.1 Specification
The version, size, etc. are specified in the delivery documents.
2. Installation
Water consumption due to evaporation, E, can be calculated
as follows:
E= q · 60 · 1.2 · (x

) l/min, where q = air flow, m
