Monitoring appliance status
Viewing status on the Network Security console
You can display the status of a 7100 Series node by clicking the node object in
the Network Security console. Similarly, you can display sensor status and link
information by clicking an interface object in the console. In both cases, the
information is displayed in the right pane of the console window.
Certain status fields are displayed as averages. The values are recalculated for
each time period known as the statistics interval. The length of the statistics
interval is several seconds.
If an interface, interface group, or in-line pair is running at a higher bandwidth,
Symantec Network Security starts multiple sensor processes to handle the
expected throughput. It can start up to four sensor processes. When you click
the interface object, the status display in the right pane includes a column for
each sensor process and a column for the aggregate values. Some, but not all
parameters have values for each sensor process.

Uptime
The length of time the node has been up and running.
■
Load avgs
The amount of network traffic seen on all monitoring
interfaces, averaged over the last statistics interval.
■
Cert. expiration
The expiration date of the generated software
encryption certificate on the appliance.
■
Last database sync
The last time that the databases were synchronized
with the master node.
■
CPU1 Temperature (Celsius) Current operating temperature of CPU1.
■
CPU2 Temperature (Celsius) Current operating temperature of CPU2. (7160/7161)
