Application of Remote Disaster Recovery
The N8300 supports the following two remote disaster recovery methods:
l
When using NAS applications, the file system is remotely backed up using the remote
replication function of the file system.
Based on the IP network, the remote replication function of the file system copies the file
systems on the local N8300 to the remote N8300 through the Local Area Network (LAN)
and the Wide Area Network (WAN).
l
When using SAN applications, the LUN is remotely backed up through the synchronous/
asynchronous remote replication function of the storage unit.
The remote replication of the LUN can be achieved using storage unit FC ports or iSCSI
ports. When performing remote replication, you must connect the storage unit to the local
Fibre Channel (FC) switching network or LAN/WAN and then copy data to a set of storage
array. This storage array can either be a storage unit of another N8300 or a single storage
array.
