Grounding
Installation Safety Considerations
Avoid the following conditions:
Elevated Operating Temperatures: If the XL-GPS is installed in a closed or multi-unit rack
assembly, the ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than the XL-
GPS 's Maximum Operating Temperature of 50°C/122°F. Install the XL-GPS in an envi-
ronment that is compatible with the XL-GPS 's operating temperature range, which is 0 °C
to 50 °C, or 32 °F to 122 °F
Reduced Air Flow: Position the XL-GPS with enough space above, below, and adjacent to
the chassis to allow an adequate flow of air so that it may operate safely. Symmetricom rec-
ommends leaving 1.4 in. (3.6 cm) above and below the XL-GPS or enough space to allow
5 CFM air flow.
Uneven Mechanical Loading: Mount the equipment so as to avoid uneven mechanical load-
ing that could cause hazardous conditions.
Circuit Overloading: Observe the power ratings on the XL-GPS's nameplate and the addi-
tional load the XL-GPS may place on the supply circuit.
