Tone settings
The
K8
features a range of facilities for fine-tuning the sound to suit your
personal preference, the listening environment and the particular recording cur-
rently being played. All the tone control settings are grouped in the TONE
menu.
A brief press on the button calls up the tone control menu as a “Pop-Up”,
whereas a long press calls up the on-screen display on a screen connected to
the system.
The tone control menu can be called up either using the
buttons on the
remote control handset, or on the machine itself using the Tone (tone control
settings) menu point in the
menu.
Balance L/R
This menu point is used to alter the balance in level between the left and right
loudspeakers. The setting affects the front, surround and rear speakers.
Balance F/B
This menu point is used to alter the balance in level between the front and rear
loudspeakers.
The balance can be adjusted in increments of 1 dB; the screen always displays
the current value.
The primary purpose of the Balance setting in the Tone menu is to compensate
for inadequacies in the audio mix of the recording currently being played. For
the basic calibration of your loudspeakers you should adjust the settings in the
“Loudspeaker / Level” menu.
Subwoofer level
Adjusting the volume of the sub-woofer.
In our experience the mix of the LFE channel (Low-Frequency Effects) can vary
widely from recording to recording. This menu point provides a quick means of
adjusting the sub-woofer volume to suit the recording being played.
Tone Control
This menu point can be used to disable (by-pass) the K8’s tone controls.
To switch off the tone controls, select the “OFF” setting. When the tone controls
are switched off, any adjustments you make to the following menu points
“BASS” and “TREBLE” have no effect.
