Installing the DSC Cooling Accessories
The DSC operates in conjunction with one of several cooling accessories. Your choice of cooling accessories
depends on the temperature range that you wish to use for your experiments. This section provides the
information that you need to install the Finned Air Cooling System and Quench Coolers. For proper operation,
the correct cooler type must be selected through the instrument control software. See the online documentation
for details.
NOTE: For information on installing the RCS 90, RCS 40, and LNCS consult the appropriate
manual or the online help.
Installing the Finned Air Cooling System
The Finned Air Cooling System (FACS) is an optional accessory that can be used with heating experiments to
provide a heat sink for optimum performance. To install the FACS follow these instructions:
1.
Remove the lid(s). If you do not have an AutoLid on your instrument, manually remove the lids. If your
instrument has an AutoLid, select the
Control/Lid/Open
function to raise the Autolid from the cell and
cause it to move out of the way to its home position.
2.
Pull the plug on the side of the unit cover out to remove it. Then remove the screws attaching the cell cover
to the unit cover (circled in the figure below). Three screws are located on the side (Q2000/Q1000) and one
is located on the top. Retain the screws.
3.
If your instrument has an Autosampler installed, lift up the
cover to release the tabs (shown here) and pull the cover
towards you to remove it fully being careful not to damage the
cell lids.
If you do not have an Autosampler, you will have to remove
additional screws to release the cover. Then pull the cover
towards you to remove it fully.
