Installation of Additional Items
Several additional items can be found in the accessory box that is shipped with your instrument. While your
TA Instruments Representative may install many of these for you, it is important to know how to install them
yourself.
Installing the Manual Lids
When you receive your DSC Q20 or Q10 instrument the three lids will be shipped in the accessory box, separate
from the instrument. After unpacking the instrument and installing the instrument completely (see instructions
in this chapter), you will be ready to run samples. Each time you place a sample and reference pan in the cell
you must cover the cell with the lids before beginning a run.
Install the smallest (inner) lid first, then the medium (outer) lid, and lastly the large (upper) lid on the top. Then
you can begin your experiment.
Installing the Autosampler Tray and Dust Cover
When you receive your DSC, equipped with an
Autosampler, the sample tray and dust cover will be
shipped in the accessory box, separate from the
instrument. After unpacking the instrument and
installing the instrument completely (see instruc-
tions in this chapter), you will be ready to run sam-
ples using the Autosampler.
Grasp the tray by the center knob and lower it into
the opening positioning the grooves in the underside
of the tray so that they fit into the appropriate posi-
tion. The figure to the right illustrates the grooves
and tabs.
Load the samples onto the tray. After the tray is
loaded and installed, cover them with the clear plas-
tic dust cover. Align the tray to fit into the predeter-
mined slots so that the opening is properly posi-
tioned over the first sample pan to allow for proper
operation of the Autosampler.
