For even numbered shelves
, place Peripheral Station Interface cards starting at
slot 3 and moving to the right (omitting slot 4 if synchronization is required).
For odd numbered shelves
, place Peripheral Station Interface cards starting at
slot
3
and moving to the right.
Place Peripheral Analog Trunk Interface and remaining Auxiliary and Digital
Trunk Interface cards starting at card slot 18 and moving to the left.
Distribute
heavy consumer
cards (cards with a large number of ports) among
the slot sets as evenly as possible, based on their PCM highway distribution,
see
Time Slot Distribution among the Peripheral Units on page 6-21
. The Peripheral
Shelf
Unit
(Unit=2 shelves comprised of an odd and even or only 1even shelf)
timeslots are divided into four groups of 128 timeslots among its combined I/O
slots. These cards are least blocking when placed in Peripheral Shelf Units that
contain only an even numbered shelf.
For a completely non-blocking system, the technician should avoid installing
the following cards in
slots 1-8 of peripheral shelves 6 and 7
:
30T/x, T1, PRI24, PRI 30, IPG, UGW, UGW-E and PUGW.
