Using a Tadpole SCSI Floppy Disk Drive
The SPARCbook SCSI floppy disk drive (SFDD) is designed for use
with all SPARCbook and SPARCbook 3000 models. It draws power
from your SPARCbook’s SCSI port so does not require a separate
power cable. Any additional SCSI devices must, however, be powered
separately.
Caution
The floppy drive is powered from the SCSI port of your computer.
Powering more than one floppy drive, or a floppy drive and a removable
hard disk drive adapter at the same time may cause damage to your
SPARCbook.
The procedure for installing and using the SFDD is as follows:
•
Connect the drive.
•
Set the SCSI ID and terminator switches.
•
Power up the system and enter a command to create the
necessary special files so that data on floppy disks can be
accessed.
•
Format floppy disks (to prepare blank disks for data storage).
•
Create a mount point
