Draining the Fuel Tank

Do not smoke or permit open flames
while handling fuel or working on the
fuel system.

Stop the engine in a well-ventilated
place and allow it to cool down before
performing maintenance.

Clean up spilled fuel immediately.
Do this before operating the machine.

1. Remove the fuel cap (2).
2. Place a pan under the drain cock (3).
3. Open the drain cock (3) and drain the
water and sediment from the bottom of
the tank.
4. Close the drain cock (3).
5. While watching the sight gauge (1), add
fuel.
6. Tighten the fuel cap (2) and lock it with
the key.
7. Bleed the air.
Refer to page 139 “Bleeding the Air from
the Fuel System”.
Supplement: Air in the fuel system can make
it difficult to start the engine and cause engine
problems. Also bleed the air when the fuel
tank is emptied.

Replenishing
When adding distilled water, do so before
starting operations in order to prevent
freezing.
1. Remove the caps (2), and add distilled
water until the upper level (H).
2. Inspect the indicator (1) then it turns blue.
3. Clean the cap’s exhaust hole, then tighten
the caps (2) securely.
