use caution when handling.
q. Keep the oxalic acid in its original packaging (with the
label in accordance with the law) and keep it in a safe
place.
r. As a precaution, wash your hands thoroughly after use.
s.
IF SWALLOWED
: Call a POISON CONTROL CENTER or
doctor immediately.
t.
IF CONTACT WITH EYES
: Rinse cautiously with water for
several minutes. Remove contact lenses if necessary.
Continue rinsing.
u.
IN CASE OF CONTACT WITH SKIN
: wash thoroughly with
plenty of water and soap.
10. To reduce the risk of accidents and occupational diseases,
in addition to the information given in the previous
paragraphs:
a. Do not use the device without adequate lighting. In case,
use artificial lighting systems.
b. Clean the device only with water and prevent water from
entering internally into the handle.
c. Product use by professional operators who often
intensely use the product must take account of any issues
that may increase the exposure to the possible dangers.
d. Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is on.
e. Do not leave the device or the oxalic acid in environments
where there are children or where children have access.
f. Handle the device only by the handle
g. For all other follow ups on the use of oxalic acid and
security of the acid itself, you can find it provided in
technical specifications.
h. Given the nature of the device and its intended use, the
dangers resulting specifically from the use of burners
combine the dangers connected with the activity of
apiculture. At such risks, the professional user must
correct the same risks after the valuation opportunity of
the current laws.
11.
To reduce the risk of damage:
The cup of the burner reaches temperatures of about 400
°C (Oxalika Basic/Start), 200 °C (Oxalika Premium), which puts
you at risk of damaging the parts of the hive in contact.
a. Do not use on plastic or plastic-coated hive networks
without applying a proper insulation (minimum 4 mm
wooden board) under the cup
b. To prevent burns on the wooden protector, apply a
suitable insulator (minimum 4 mm wooden board) under
the cup
II. Specifications and Functions
Oxalic acid is placed in the cup, which will be inserted into the
opening. As the cup heats up, the oxalic acid evaporates. It is
formed so that in the hive there is a mist that covers the bees
and all surfaces with a thin layer of oxalic acid crystals. These
small crystals are tolerated well by the bees, but they have
lethal effect on Varroa destructors.
The cup is connected to a solid grip where the
cable extends, provided with terminals to connect to the
accumulator (not provided) to be used as an energy source
(battery for car, 12 volt, capacity> 30 Ah). The evaporator
power is 130 Watt.
III. Treatment and Methods of Use
This equipment is intended for the use of oxalic acid
vaporization suitable for the purpose of beekeeping.
The burner is designed and built to meet specific needs for the
treatment of Varroa destructors in hives populated by bees.
The burner is used in treatments against colonies of mites,
without hatching in November or December.
Given the high efficacy of the burner (> 96%), you can reduce
the population of Varroa destructors so that the bees will be in
an ideal condition for the next season.
DOSE
: With Dadant hives, for medium colonies, the oxalic acid
dose is 2g. The measuring spoon supplied, filled, but not
pressed, corresponds to 1 gram of acid. If after the treatment
you eliminate more than 1,000 mites, or in uncertainty about
possible presence of the brood in the colony, it is necessary to
repeat the treatment two weeks after, following the dose of 1g
of acid, regardless of the size of the colony. Swarms and
artificial swarms can be treated throughout the whole year.
The nuclei with the queen must be treated before covering the
brood. Warning: orphan colonies react with a frenetic "coming
and going" with bees. For more details see the instructions in
the information sheet on oxalic acid suitable for the use of
beekeeping. The device is to be used exclusively in hives
occupied by bees, do not treat weak colonies or empty hives.
Below are the instructions for proper use. These indications
must be applied by the user.
The distance between the bottom of the hive and the frames
should be at least 2cm.
The vaporizer can be used in two different ways depending on
the model, operator’s experience, manual abilities and the
security devices used.
First mode – treatment time: 3 minutes
(This mode is suitable for both the OXALIKA BASIC/START model
and the OXALIKA PREMIUM model)
wear personal protective equipment in accordance
with Chapter I.
ensure that other people within the area of the use of
the device action are not within reach of the oxalic
acid.
ensure that the hive does not have any honeycombs.
For a cold device, insert the correct dose of oxalic acid
in the hollow of the cup with the measuring cup,
taking into account the instructions on the drug label.
Place the cap deeply through the opening for the
bees. Do not place the cup too close to the wax but at
a minimum distance of 2 cm.
Remove any remnants of wax from the bottom of the
