4.3) Setting the tracking weight
With the stylus guard cover removed, gently slide the counterweight on from the rear -
DO NOT tighten. Next, using a stylus balance (this item is not supplied) move the
counterweight along the arm stub until the recommended tracking force is read by the
scales. If in doubt, 1.8 to 2 grams is a good starting point. Feel free to experiment as
different pressures will change the sound quality, but do so by a maximum of +/- 0.3
grams so as to avoid any possible long term damage. When you are happy tighten the
counterweight using the supplied 1.5mm allen key.

The bias has been factory set. If you want to change the bias, undo the locking allen
bolt on the weight and move it along the threaded part to the desired position. If you
have a test record you should set the bias using this. The factory set position is more
than adequate for most installations.
5) Operation
Having successfully connected and installed your turntable into your system, you can
now enjoy it. However, as a quick check we suggest that before playing a record you
select the appropriate input and advance the volume control slowly to check that there
are no major hums coming from it. If there is, it may indicate that you need to
reposition either the turntable or the phono stage (if you are using one).
If you cannot reduce the hum you should contact your authorised Edwards Audio
dealer for assistance. You should be able to achieve a position where there is only a
faint hiss and almost zero hum at normal listening levels.
