TANDBERG Gateway
Features
In a typical enterprise setup, such as the one in the previous figure, the Gateway is registered with a Gatekeeper,
and the Gatekeeper is registered with the Border Controller. In this scenario, the native Expressway functionality
in the Gateway enables media to be routed directly between the Gateway and the Border Controller, reducing
latency.
The native Expressway support in the Gateway also enables the Gateway to register directly to a border controller
through a firewall without the need for a Gatekeeper. Connecting the Gateway directly to a Border Controller
enables new deployment possibilities, e.g.:
· An organization may want to have a firewall between the Gateway and the rest of the IP video conferencing
infrastructure to add another layer of security.
· An organization may want to deploy Gateways at remote locations.
The figure below shows a scenario where IP is used between the enterprise and a remote location.
In this scenario, enterprise users can use a remotely deployed Gateway to do local calls on ISDN.
