Technical Description of TANDBERG MCU with software version D3

4.1.10.1 H.243 Password
H.243 password (TCS-1) is supported by the system when using ISDN as network for the
conferences. This feature allows you to have a meeting password set in the MCU. In that case,
all endpoints must give this password to the MCU to join the conference. The password must be
numerical.
There are three ways of entering this MCU password:
1) Password entered together with the MCU number
E.g. with MCU number=207987654 and password=
1234
, the number to dial by the endpoints
will be 207987654
*1234
.
2) Password prompted after the MCU is called (sound or picture prompt)
In this case, the TANDBERG MCU sends a TCS-1 message to the terminal right after the
terminal has called the MCU. When the endpoint (telephone or video) receives this message, it
will prompt the user for the password (sound or picture prompt).
3) Password prompted after the MCU is called (DTMF tones)
The endpoints may also insert the password via their remote control (DTMF) to get access to the
MCU.
Note: Using DTMF tones is the only way to enter a protected meeting from a site connecting on
IP network.
If password is correct, the MCU will join the system to the conference; if not correct the system
will not be connected.
