Troubleshooting
Before calling our customer service centre, please read the following information to establish the possible cause
of a fault.

Cause
Solution
No power.
Mains cable is not plugged in.
Plug the mains cable firmly into the so-
cket.
No picture.
TV/DVD mode on the recorder is set to TV. Press the DVD button on the remote con-
trol to select DVD mode. The TV symbol
appears on the display window.
The television has not been configured to
receive recorder signals.
Configure the correct video input mode
so that the television displays the picture
transmitted by the recorder.
Video cable is not connected properly.
Connect the video cable properly.
Connected television is switched off.
Switch on the television.
No sound.
Devices connected via the audio cable ha-
ve not been configured to receive recorder
signals.
Configure the correct audio receiver input
mode so that you can hear the sound
transmitted by the recorder.
Audio cables are not connected properly.
Connect the audio cables properly.
Devices connected via the audio cables are
not switched on.
Devices connected via the audio cables
are not switched on.
Audio connecting cable is damaged.
Replace the cable.
Poor picture during playback. Disc is dirty.
Clean the disc.
The recorder does not play. No disc inserted.
Insert a disc. (the disc symbol must ap-
pear on the display.)
Unplayable disc inserted.
Insert a playable disc. (check the disc ty-
pe, colour system and country code.)
Disc is inserted the wrong way up.
Insert the disc with the playback side fac-
ing downwards.
Disc is not positioned in the loader recess
correctly.
Place the disc in the disc loader recess
correctly.
Disc is dirty.
Clean the disc.
Preset authorisation level.
Disable the parental control function or
change the authorisation level.
Picture from the auxiliary de-
vice is distorted.
The video signal from the auxiliary device is
copy protected.
You cannot connect the device via the
recorder. Connect the device directly to
the television.
The recorder skips some
channels when the -CH+ but-
tons are pressed.
These channels are not stored in the re-
corder.
Channel not active.
Restore the channels. See "Channel se-
tup" on page 22.
Activate the channel in the channel list.
Picture or sound received
from the station is poor or
absent.
The antenna or cables are loose.
Check the connections or replace the ca-
bles.
Camcorder picture not dis-
played.
The camcorder is switched off.
Switch on the camcorder and operate
correctly.
The camcorder picture con-
nected to the recorder via the
A/V or DV IN input is not dis-
played correctly.
The input source is configured incorrectly
on the recorder.
Press AV/INPUT and select an input
channel (AV1, AV2, DV, etc.)
