4 – CD playback

Pitch control playback 

With pitch control playback, this unit can alter the pitch (sound 

frequency and playback speed) of CDs during playback.
Follow the procedures below to use pitch control playback.
1.  Press the REPEAT [PITCH ON/OFF] button while pressing 

and holding the DISPLAY [SHIFT] button on the main unit 

or press the PITCH button on the remote control to turn 

pitch control ON. 

2.  Use the FOLDER

and holding the DISPLAY [SHIFT] button on the main unit 

or use the PITCH –/+ buttons on the remote control to set 

the pitch in 0.5% units in a range of ±14.0%.

To turn pitch control playback OFF:

Press the REPEAT[PITCH ON/OFF] button while pressing 

and holding the DISPLAY [SHIFT] button on the main unit 

or press the PITCH button on the remote control.

NOTE

• 

During playback, turning pitch control playback ON or OFF 

might cause the playback sound to skip momentarily.

• 

Using pitch control playback with a data CD (MP3, MP2, 

WAV) sometimes causes the playback sound to skip.

• 

When the pitch control function is on, digital output is 

possible, but the sampling frequency will be changed by 

an amount equivalent to the pitch control value. When the 

pitch control function is on, some devices might not be able 

to receive this unit’s digital output.

• 

The pitch control function cannot be used with an iPod or 

iPhone. 

Intro check function 

The intro check function can be used to automatically play back 

the first 10 seconds of every track on a CD one after another. 
During playback or when stopped, press and hold the main 

unit PLAY MODE/INTRO CHECK [SOURCE SEL] button or 

the remote control INTRO CHECK button to start intro check 

playback. The

indicator appears on the display when 

this function is active.

•  To stop intro check playback, press the main unit or remote

Turning the intro check function off

During intro check playback, press and hold the main 

unit PLAY MODE/INTRO CHECK [SOURCE SEL] button or 

remote control INTRO CHECK button again to return to 

ordinary playback mode. The 

INTRO

 indicator disappears 

from the display. 

NOTE

• 

The intro check playback function can also be used with 

data CDs.

• 

The intro check playback function can also be used during 

programmed playback and folder playback modes.

• 

The intro check playback function cannot be used with an 

iPod or iPhone.
