CONTROLS & FEATURES – Parking Brake and Horn
PARKING BRAKE
The Indigo is equipped with a cable-actuated mechanical parking brake that
engages when the lever, 1, located between the driver and passenger seats, is
raised. When the driver pulls up on the parking brake lever, the drum brakes on
the rear axle of the vehicle hold the vehicle in place.
To engage the parking brake, bring the vehicle to a complete stop and raise the
lever fully (3 to 6 notches). The locking mechanism will hold the lever in place.
While the parking brake is engaged, the parking brake indicator will illuminate
on the instrument cluster. To release the parking brake, push the release button,
2, on the end of the lever and fully lower to the ‘disengaged’ position.
If no resistance is felt when the parking brake lever is raised, the actuating cables
may require adjustment. Refer to the “Section 5 - Maintenance and Care” in
this manual.
HORN
The horns are activated by pressing the pad in the center of the vehicle steering
wheel. Use the horns to alert other motorists of possible hazards or to bring their
attention to your vehicle.
CAUTION
Always engage the parking brake when exiting the vehicle.
Do not drive the vehicle with the parking brake applied. Damage
to the braking system will occur.
Park brake can not function as to stop a running vehicle
