ADJUST THE SERVICE BRAKES
Mechanical Disc Brakes
1:
Remove the floorboard.
2: Release the park brake.
3: Depress the treadle by hand so that all play is
removed from the slip connector and clamp the
throttle rod in position. The throttle arm should
still be against the throttle stop.
4: Loosen both brake rod jam nuts and adjust the
brake rod so that there is no play in the brake
linkages. Move the equalizer back and forth while
adjusting to ensure all play is removed. Adjust by
hand, do not use a wrench.
5: Tighten the brake rod an additional ½ turn and
remove the clamp from the throttle rod.
Note: If you have reached the end of the threads
on the brake rod, then move the left and right
brake linkages to the secondary adjustment
holes. There are two sets of holes on each
linkage.
6: Push the vehicle back and forth a few feet. When
the treadle is
gently
released, the throttle arm
should be contacting the throttle stop and there
should be no more than 1/16” clearance at the
slip connector. The back of the treadle should
about level with the floorboard.
a.
If not within specification then
loosen or tighten the brake rod 1/8
turn at a time until within specification.
7: Tighten both brake rod jam nuts.
8: Adjust the parking brake.
9:
Install the floorboard.
10: Reconnect the main positive and negative cables
at the batteries.
11: Remove blocks from behind the wheels.
12: Release the park brake and test drive the vehicle.
