HYDRAULIC FLUID LEVEL
Visually inspect the fluid level in the hydraulic pump reservoir. Low fluid level could result in
diminished and/or loss of steering and/or braking power. Low fluid level may be a result of a leak
in the system. Inspect for fluid leaks whenever needing to add fluid to the system.
Refer to the maintenance schedule in this manual for the recommended inspection interval.
Fluid Specifications:
Universal power steering fluid. Meets or exceeds service requirements for one of the following:
•
GENERAL MOTORS – GM9985010
•
FORD – ESW-M2C128-C
•
DAIMLERCHRYSLER-MS-5931
•
VOLKSWAGEN-TL-VW-570-26
The pump is located in the rear of the vehicle.
3.
Thoroughly clean the area around the reservoir before removing the filler cap.
4. Remove the cap.
5. Depending on the pump in your vehicle:
• The fluid in the reservoir should be between the two marks on the filler cap dipstick Refer
to illustration.
• The fluid should be in the MIN and MAX depicted by the lines in the illustration.
1) Park the vehicle on a level surface in an
area approved for servicing a vehicle.
2) Set the park brake.
3) Disconnect the battery.
