Buttonholing
Always start by trying out buttonholing
on a scrap of the fabric you will be
using.
1. Attach the buttonholing foot (see
the "Changing the foot” section).
2. Decide how long the buttonhole
must be: Raise the foot, place the
button in the opening in the foot and
bring the movable part of the foot
up to the button. Note the marking.
3. Mark the position where you wish to
have the button hole on the fabric.
4. Place the sewing under the foot so
that the marking on the fabric corre-
sponds with the position on the foot.
5. Lower the foot.
6. Set the stitch pattern to
Sew the right-hand side of the
button hole.
7. Raise the needle.
8. Set the stitch selector dial to
Sew five or six stitches.
9. Raise the needle.
10. Set the stitch selector dial to
Sew the left-hand side of the button
hole.
11. Raise the needle.
