Hemming
Hemming requires a certain amount of
experience. It is best to practise on a
suitable piece of fabric.
1. Fold the fabric about 3 mm twice,
and place the fold under the foot.
2. Sew five or six stitches.
3. Raise the needle to its highest posi-
tion and raise the foot.
4. Guide the hem into the rounded slot
in the hemming foot.
5. Lower the foot and start hemming.
During hemming guide the fabric a
little to the left side of the opening
of the hemming foot. The fabric
must be kept from slipping under
the right hand toe of the foot.
Embroidering/darning
1. Raise the presser foot lever.
2. Unscrew the foot and the foot
holder.
3. Lower the presser foot shaft.
4. Place the embroidering/darning
throat plate in place.
5. Mount the fabric on a frame.
6. Move the frame around while
sewing, in order to achieve the
desired pattern. The fabric is not fed
automatically!
Tips for darning:
•
Always work from left to right.
Rotate your work through 90
degrees and sew over the darn
again.
•
Start by sewing around the hole that
is to be darned, in order to stabilise
the edges.
