TROUBLESHOOTING & FREQUENT QUESTIONS
Q. I have some channels numbered 350, 351, 352, etc. Why?
A. The STB supports logical-channel-numbering. In some areas the
broadcaster may not be sending their channel number. The Australian
requirement for STB design says that any services without a channel
allocation are to be given a number from 350 to 399. The digital player will
do this automatically for you.
Q. Teletext is not working. Why?
A. The teletext feature must be activated by the broadcaster and described
correctly in the transmission tables. If not, the TEXT icon will not display
itself.
Q. I can see the subtitle icon, but their are no subtitles. Why?
A. The subtitles may be described in the broadcaster transmissions, but not
actually being sent. This is not a problem with your set-top box.
Q. I have connected SCART to SCART, but the picture is a Green colour.
Why?
A. Make sure that your set-top box is not set to YPbPr component output.
Q. I have connected S-Video, but picture is in black & white. Why?
A. Check on your television that you have selected correctly the S-Video
input.
Q. I am unable to get a dial tone on my set-top box. Why?
A. There are many problems that can exist. Check these first: -
1. Telephone cable is correctly connected.
2. Telephone is on-hook at home.
3. Check that pre-fix is correct. In some homes, a pincode may be
required to get an outside line.
Q. The modem begins to dial, it connects but their is an Authentication
error. Why?
A. Double check that your username and password are correct.
Q. The picture on my TV screen is slightly bent (on an angle) towards
one side of the screen. Is this normal?
A. A TV screen generally cannot be adjusted in the same way as a computer
monitor. Therefore, many televisions will not display graphics perfectly
straight on the screen. This is known as poor geometry alignment. Check
with the television manufacturer as to whether it can be improved if
necessary.
Q. How do I know what is showing in Widescreen 16:9 format?
A. Check the DBA website (http://www.dba.org.au) for widescreen
programming.
Q. When I go to the blue Internet screen, the corners are redish in
colour. Why?
A. The television screen needs to be degaussed. This can be done by
switching the television off at the main power (not standby!), leave it off
for an hour, then switch on again. You may need to repeat this a few times.
If problems still persist, contact the manufacturer for details.
Q. The details in the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) are not always
correct. Why?
A. The informations comes from the broadcaster and may not be updated.
